A fundraising yoga class to support the Samaritans.
Where: The Badger Farm Community Centre, Winchester
When: 12.00pm, Saturday, November 22nd, 2025
Duration: 90 minutes including an introduction from Wayne Fletcher, branch director of the Winchester Samaritans.
A wonderful opportunity to enjoy a beginner friendly yoga class with like minded people who want to support a great cause.
About the Event
This yoga class is designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress and foster a sense of community.
All levels are welcome from beginners to experienced practitioners.
We will begin with Wayne Fletcher sharing a short reflection on the art of listening.
Just as yoga invites us to listen closely to our bodies (holding a pose without forcing it), listening to others requires us to hold space, resist the urge to jump in with advice, and truly hear what’s being said.
This gentle parallel offers a unique perspective on how yoga practice and listening skills both nurture compassion, patience, and connection.
Sarah Barguirdjian, a full time yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience, will then lead you through a steady, slow paced class; focusing on empowering you to listen to your body and adapt poses to suit your range of motion, strength and energy levels.
The class will also include a short guided meditation and a simple breathing technique, both designed to enhance relaxation as well as recognise, process and release feelings associated with stress.
Supporting a Great Cause
All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Samaritans, a UK based charity providing listening and emotional support to people in distress, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Your participation will help make a difference in the lives of people in real need.
Please bring a yoga mat, a blanket and a water bottle.
*£292 is enough to train and support 11 listening volunteers for an entire year.
